The Science of Custom–Fit Skis
Wagner Custom is the world's leader in the emerging field of Ski Fitting Science. Our fitting process begins with a detailed questionnaire and an interview with one of our expert ski designers. We'll explore your needs in fine detail, then work up a set of specifications for your perfect ski – and we'll fully explain the flex, shape, material and weight issues. You can submit your own graphics – we're happy to paint your skis your way.
The Wagner Custom process is based on Pete Wagner's extensive experience with custom golf clubs and several years of work in small shops building prototype skis and snowboards.
Wagner Custom Skis are made from the world's finest components, one pair at a time, in an ultra-modern shop entirely powered by wind and sun. We believe we're the world's greenest ski company, and no one has told us otherwise.

The Wagner Custom Difference
- We make skis one pair at a time, a few pairs each week.
- We have the time to assemble the parts accurately, with no bubbles in the resin or wrinkles in the fiber, and no gaps between the components (big factories rely on resin to fill the gaps).
- We insist on using only the very finest components: cores laminated from fully-cured, dimensionally stable, solid clear-grain heart maple, ash, or aspen, laminated with no knots, holes or filler (big factories use injected foam cores, or plywood cores full of flaws).
- We can afford to buy small lots of the world's most expensive base materials – the same high-molecular-weight sintered IMS P-tex specified for hand-built World Cup race skis. You can't find this stuff in any mass-produced ski: the cost would be prohibitive.
- Because our materials are dimensionally stable, we can assure that your skis will arrive with flat bases, expertly structured and beveled. We even preflex your skis so performance won't change in the course of the first day's skiing.
- Each pair is unique, custom-crafted for a specific customer.
- This doesn't mean we simply paint your name on the top (though we're happy to do that).
- It means that the length, sidecut radius, waist and shovel width, flare angles, and flex profile are designed to suit your weight, strength, skiing style and preferred range of snow conditions.
- Want a softer tail and broader waist for bottomless powder? You got it.
- Need a heavier shovel to crunch through crud? It's yours.
- Want superfast glide for effortless penetration in corn and Sierra sludge?
No problem. - Want a quick and snaky ride in bumps? We can do it.
- Too big (250 lbs?) or too small (95 lbs?) to find what you need in mass produced performance skis? We'll fit you out.
